Amazon office wall art installation by rehyphen using 500 pieces of MusicCloth - a material weaved of cassette tapes

This amazon office wall art installation explores the intricate intertwining of local culture and history through 500 pieces of MusicCloth® - an innovative up-cycled material from discarded cassette tapes by Rehyphen®. These pieces were then using puzzle method to form an “AWS” logo in Amazon Singapore office. Incorporating original playlists, it preserves musical heritage while creating a multisensory experience celebrating community, sustainability, and artistic expression. This fusion of past and present, material and sound, weaves a compelling narrative of cultural continuity and environmental responsibility.

Amazon.com, Inc. doing business as Amazon, is an American multinational technology company engaged in e-commerce, cloud computing, online advertising, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. In rehyphen, we always challenge our community to reimagine how we can make waste and memories beautiful together. As we evolve to a mobile museum, we would like to change the definition of museum being statics and formal. Every piece of cassette tapes we collected in our museum, eventually will go back to the public in different forms. A mobile museum is a versatile concept that comes in different forms and different ways of engagement with the community from collecting to distributing (it is random! Depends on your luck!) The key thing is we bring the museum to the people rather than vice versa.
